EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY, WHAT I KNEW THEN, WHAT I KNOW NOW AND HOW IT WILL AFFECT MY TEACHING.
I knew little about technology in the past, even to use Microsoft Office was a very hard task for me. Always asking for help due to my lack of knowledge about computers. Well throughout my course with Computer Aided Instruction, it elevated to a much higher standard now. Educational technology is the effective use of technological tools in learning. As a concept, it concerns an array of tools, such as media, machines and networking hardware, as well as considering theoretical perspectives for their effective application.
With all this knowledge from the course, it enabled me to grasp Technology learning much more to the instance that I can actually be much more effective when I apply it towards my work and studies. I even went as far as to actually be much more involved, to which I can tell you that educational technology is not restricted to electronic technology alone. Nonetheless, electronic educational technology has become an important part of society today. Modern educational technology includes information and communication technology (ICT) in education, multimedia learning, technology-enhanced learning (TEL), computer-based instruction (CBI), computer-assisted instruction or computer-aided instruction (CAI), internet-based training (IBT), virtual education, personal learning environments, networked learning, virtual learning environments (VLE) and digital education. These labels have been variously used and understood, and conflate to the broad domain of educational technology.
To ensure success of learning outcomes, teachers need to incorporate the extensive use of technology in the classroom to enhance students learning through different methods to meet the students’ needs, motivation as well as developing 21st-century skills of both analytical thinking and technology literacy. We can start with simple technology ideas and application programs such as Microsoft Word, Data Base and Power Point. For example teachers can start each new topic of a subject with students setting objectives for that particular subject. This will not only aid learning, but will also spark students interest, increase motivation and give the
Also let the students use Microsoft Office to answer all essay and structured questions from the lesson. This will enhance their writhing, word expressions and vocabulary skills while improving their grades. The younger generation these days are much weary of the simple writing on books, they will much look forward to using iPad or tablets, laptops or pc etc. Not only electronics are technology but even physical things like LEGO or even an Abacus to do Mathematical questions.
It has been a great experience with Education Technology so far and I am looking forward to see how much more that I can and will learn.
